The mindfulness colouring book
This week I will analyse the mindfulness colouring book by Emma Farrarons. It’s a 100 page paperback colouring book that is small enough to fit in a coat pocket. It’s filled with abstract, wavy, floral and animal illustrations to colour-in. I’m certain fellow illustrators will agree that illustrating can be relaxing and even therapeutic. There is something comforting about picking up a pencil and drawing. I forget about everything around me. I’m in the moment, feeling the blank sheet underneath the nib, hearing the sound of the lead scratching the surface of the paper. To me, it’s the same with colouring-in. Maybe it’s a feeling of childhood nostalgia, spending a day filling in scenes, choosing the next colouring pencil…hours free from thought.
Working with your hands is one of the best ways to soothe anxiety and eliminate stress. This stunning, pocket-sized colouring book offers a practical exercise in mindfulness that draws on your creativity and hones your focus.
Beautifully illustrated, The Mindfulness Colouring Book is filled with templates for exquisite scenes and intricate, sophisticated patterns, prompting you to meditate on your artwork as you mindfully and creatively fill these pages with colour. Take a few minutes out of your day, wherever you are, and colour your way to peace and calm. Colouring for adults has proved to be incredibly  popular and is vastly being included into many stores.  I love the compact size (12.4 x 1 x 17.7 cm) and the paper is quality. There are intricate designs and simpler ones plus there are a couple of blank pages for you to do your own.  I’ve tended to flick through and pick a design to suit my mood. The mindfulness colouring book has really helped me and other people that I have spoken to de stress and is a really useful tool to counter things such as anxiety.
