Is Harry Kane ready for England
Over the last few months Harry Kane has proved himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier league. With the international friendly’s for England looming, many have asked if the young starlet should be in the squad.
It is clear that Kane has great potential, and can score great goals, but evidence from the past suggests that introducing young players into the team to early can damage their confidence. For example in 2006 Theo Walcott was included in the world cup squad but didn’t even play a game and only knocked his confidence. With strikers like Sturridge, Rooney and Welbeck in the side, it seems likely that Kane will share the same fate. However considering he has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season, he could be a risk worth taking. Not only has he scored goals but he has proved himself with a very technical player with the 8 assist that he has provided for his team this season. Pundits have been torn on this issue, but the overwhelming feeling is that Kane is a risk worth taking and considering that the games coming up are only friendly’s the pressure won’t be as extreme and more importantly it doesn’t matter so much if he puts in a bad performance.
In my opinion this is the perfect opportunity for Kane and one that Roy Hodgson has to take. Kane has scored more goals the Rooney, Sturridge and Welbeck this season and so going on that statistic then he should start. The European championships aren’t until the summer of 2016 but after the performance at the world cup the sooner Hodgson knows his best starting XI the better.
