Original hand-painted plates by Kassiette

We are very happy to introduce a new range of beautiful hand-painted ceramics from French artist Kassiette. We are particularly keen on the ‘Smiling Anchovies‘ or ‘Happy Fish‘ designs.

A few words by the artist herself: “I was inspired to decorate plates and bowls by a gift my daughter received from her friend. I began with my favourite subject – fish, and then experimented with other shapes, designs and different pieces of pottery. A friend asked me to do a plate for a wedding anniversary present and that led to other commissions and one-off designs.

The technique I used is painting onto plates and bowls with a specific enamel type of pen. The designing takes the longest time as I get inspiration from nature and the world around me. Once the design is perfected I then paint the plates, allow them to dry thoroughly and then seal them in an oven. My plates are sourced locally and I spend time selecting the finer plates with a delicate feel.
I prefer to paint on white plates but have also decorated coloured plates. I have also sourced vintage plates and designed modern and more traditional decorations.

I’m constantly looking for inspiration in other art forms. I enjoy doing one-off unique commissions for wedding, anniversaries, etc…preparing sketches and consulting with my customers”  by Kassiette.
